2024 Edition

Targeting the Microenvironment for Imaging and Therapy

Targeting the Microenvironment for Imaging and Therapy

June 13-14, 2024, Vienna, Austria

Aim

The YIM brings together a selected group of promising early-career scientists in nuclear medicine from across Europe for a highly interactive educational event consisting of scientific presentations, peer discussion, professional skill development, and social networking.

Award

The winner of the YIM’24 event will receive the following:

  • Prize of €2,500 (paid to the host institution/department)
  • Invitation to present their research during the EANM’24 annual meeting in Hamburg
  • Complimentary registration for EANM’24
  • Travel (max. €350) and accommodation (max. 2 nights; €350/night) for the EANM’24 covered through EANM

The faculty will select the winner based on the quality of the submitted abstract, the presented work, the active participation and overall achievement during the meeting.

Evaluation

Participants will be asked to complete an evaluation and feedback form at the end of the meeting to assess the YIM’24 meeting and improve the format for future editions.

Faculty members

For the YIM’24, the faculty will consist of:

  • Tim Van den Wyngaert (Antwerp University Hospital, Belgium)
  • Margret Schottelius (Centre Hospitalier Universitaire Vaudois, Switzerland)
  • Arturo Chiti (Ospedale San Raffaele, Italy / Editor-in-chief of the EJNMMI family journal)
  • Roy Sheppard (Expert speaker, United Kingdom)

Format

Participants arrive in the morning, with the scientific programme starting at 11:00. The meeting starts with an icebreaker activity and an informal interview with the faculty to create a welcoming atmosphere and enhance participant interaction.

Afterwards, participants present their project and receive feedback from the faculty and fellow attendees on scientific content and presentation skills. Presentations will be done in 5 blocks of 2 presentations to allow ample time for discussion and interaction after each block. The first day is concluded with a social event with dinner to network among peers.

The second day starts with a group debate about hurdles and barriers that participants encounter in their early careers. This debate is followed by a workshop on delivering powerful elevator pitches. Finally, a presentation on how to get published in high-impact journals concludes the meeting.

Objectives

The content of the meeting aligns with the following CANMEDS roles: scholar, communicator, and professional.

  • Improve scientific knowledge and ability to implement feedback
  • Develop scientific communication and presentation skills
  • Enhance networking and coaching skills
  • Gain insights into the scientific publication process
