European School of Multimodality Imaging and Therapy (ESMIT)

The creation of ESMIT marked the EANM’s response to significant changes in the educational needs of the nuclear medicine community and the increasing demand for more multimodality content.

In 2015, the EANM decided to review and modernise its educational system to address the growing need for comprehensive education in all imaging modalities and to prepare the community for the therapeutic applications of our discipline. ESMIT offers a variety of learning experiences led by a trained faculty.

EURO-LEARN

Amyloidosis refers to a group of rare diseases characterised by the deposition of abnormal proteins, known as amyloid, in tissues and organs. Amyloid is produced when abnormal proteins in the body ‘misfold’ and aggregate in various tissues and organs, including the heart. As amyloid accumulates, it leads to organ damage, impairs quality of life, and may result in heart failure and arrhythmias.

EURO-LEARN is established to enhance the knowledge and awareness of both professionals and patients regarding clinical imaging in this field. It seeks to improve the indications and skills of professionals in bone scanning procedures for cardiac amyloidosis.

Erasmus+ Radioligand Therapy (RLT) Academy

The Erasmus+ RLT Academy aims to promote the education of radioligand therapies (RLTs) in Europe and bridge the educational gap among healthcare professionals. Radioligand therapy is an innovative approach to cancer treatment that targets tumour cells with radiation using radioisotopes, minimising damage to healthy tissue.

The RLT Academy Consortium, led by KU Leuven and comprising 14 organisations from 9 European countries, strives to enhance the adoption of RLTs by launching a specialised training programme for healthcare professionals.

This initiative includes mapping the knowledge gap, developing tailored training curricula, offering interactive online courses and fellowships, and providing policy recommendations to ensure patient access to radioligand therapies in Europe.
