EANM Alavi-Carlsen Award

The launch of our new EANM journals was only the first step, and we are delighted to announce the next one. Starting from 2026, EANM will introduce the EANM Alavi-Carlsen Award, made possible through the generous support of Prof. Abass Alavi!

Aim:

The Alavi-Carlsen Award recognises outstanding publications in one of the two EANM journals by young professionals under the age of 38 at the time of publication.

Eligibility:
  • The research must be published in one of the EANM journals (The EANM Journal or EANM Innovation) in the calendar year before the award is granted.
  • The first or corresponding author must be a nuclear medicine scientist younger than 38 years at the time of publication.
  • Only original research articles are eligible (reviews, guidelines, position papers, editorials, or “hotspot” articles are excluded).
Prize:

For each journal, one prize of €4,000 will be awarded. The prize must be used for scientific development or training within institutions in Europe.

Process:

When submitting their research to the EANM journals, authors will have the option to indicate their interest in being considered for the award directly in the Editorial Manager system.

A dedicated jury of EANM experts, including the Editors-in-Chief of the EANM journals, will evaluate all eligible submissions. Two winners will be selected each year – one per journal.

The winners will be presented at the EANM’26 congress.

Stay tuned – more information will be shared in the coming months! For any questions about the award, feel free to contact editorial.office@eanm.org.
