Please note: onsite participation is limited. If you register to attend in person, your request will be reviewed and you will receive a confirmation ahead of the event if a place can be allocated. Otherwise, you will be invited to join the event online.
The EU Safe Hearts Plan: A new framework for cardiovascular health
On December 16, 2025, as part of the EU Health Package, the European Commission published its Communication on an EU Cardiovascular Health Plan, known as the Safe Hearts Plan.
The Safe Hearts Plan establishes a comprehensive policy framework structured around three strategic pillars aimed at reducing cardiovascular risk factors, strengthening early detection through coordinated EU-wide screening and health check protocols, and improving standards of care through enhanced clinical guidelines and the development of a European network of cardiovascular centres. These actions are supported by cross-cutting priorities, including digital innovation, the responsible integration of artificial intelligence, reinforced research and data capacities, and a strong commitment to addressing health inequalities across the EU.
Additional background information on the Safe Hearts Plan and the crucial role of medical imaging in cardiovascular care, can be found here.
