EANM launches the European Nuclear Medicine Forum to shape the future of Personalised Theranostics

EANM has launched the European Nuclear Medicine Forum: Personalised Theranostics in 2035 (Vision, Value, Voice), a major initiative aimed at proactively shaping the future of Theranostics in Europe.

Bringing together nuclear medicine experts, clinicians, industry representatives (through the industry association, Nuclear Medicine Europe), patients, and other key stakeholders, the European Nuclear Medicine Forum seeks to develop a shared vision and a strategic roadmap for the widespread integration of Personalised Theranostics into European healthcare systems by 2035.

The initiative is led by the Steering Group (Felix Mottaghy, Pierre-Yves Salaün, Margret Schottelius and Andreas Buck) and the work is divided into five dedicated Task Forces, each focusing on a key area:

  1. Workforce and Education, led by Tim van den Wyngaert and Silvia Morbelli
  2. Innovation and Research, led by Nadia Withofs and Niklaus Schäfer
  3. Infrastructure, Availability and Sustainability, led by Michel Koole and Matthew Morrisson (NMEU)
  4. Policy, Regulation and Reimbursement, led by Wim Oyen and Konrade von Bremen (NMEU)
  5. Collaboration and Visibility, led by Daniela Oprea-Lager and Jochen Walz

These Task Forces are currently working to identify gaps, propose solutions and define priorities within their respective fields of expertise.

The process will culminate in a high-level event taking place on February 11-12, 2027, in Brussels (Belgium), where stakeholders will come together to align on a common roadmap for the future of Personalised Theranostics in Europe.

The outcomes of the European Nuclear Medicine Forum will be consolidated into a strategic publication, followed by the implementation of the roadmap’s work packages to achieve the agreed vision and objectives defined for 2035.

Through this initiative, EANM reaffirms its commitment to advancing personalised, patient-centered care and strengthening the role of Theranostics across Europe.
