EANM / EANM Journals Launch (July 2025)

Press release: Updates on EANM's two new open-access journals

Vienna, Austria I July 10, 2025

Last February, EANM proudly announced the launch of its two new open-access journals:

The EANM Journal aims to become the leading global publication for nuclear medicine and allied sciences, focusing on high-impact clinical studies covering both diagnostic and therapeutic applications of radiopharmaceuticals and other imaging probes.

EANM Innovation is designed to be the new reference platform for the broader, multidisciplinary community involved in nuclear medicine, and will highlight significant contributions from professionals across all areas of the field.

To ensure that the latest advancements in nuclear medicine are immediately accessible, both journals will be published as online-only by the world-leading publisher Elsevier.

Prof. Paola Anna Erba, EANM President 2025-2026, explains:

“The new journals epitomise EANM’s commitment to enhancing public health, advancing patient care, and promoting scientific exchange in nuclear medicine. With this new endeavour, we are placing science at the heart of the journals’ mission, and we aim to align the strategy of our new journals with EANM’s vision. The journals will provide the support, accessibility, and visibility that the work of the nuclear medicine community truly deserves”.

The two journals, while distinct in scope, will complement each other to provide a new shared home base for the clinical and broader nuclear medicine community.

Prof. Arturo Chiti, Editor-in-Chief of The EANM Journal, states:

“As the field of nuclear medicine continues to evolve rapidly—both in clinical applications and scientific innovation—the need for a new dedicated, authoritative, and internationally visible publication platform has become more evident than ever. The EANM Journal is designed to meet this need by bridging nuclear medicine with allied sciences.”

Prof. Riemer Slart, Editor-in-Chief of EANM Innovation, adds:

EANM Innovation’s motto is: ‘Where disciplines converge, nuclear medicine thrives’. We are committed to creating a journal that is both selective and inclusive—selective in scientific rigour, and inclusive in representing the diversity of ideas and research across the world. EANM Innovation aims to serve as a home for the nuclear medicine community—including clinicians, researchers, technologists, physicists, radiopharmacists, and many others”.

Both journals are committed to offering an author experience that is as seamless as possible, through flexible-format first submissions and an efficient peer-review process, powered by Elsevier’s advanced online platform. Moreover, the partnership with Elsevier will enable authors to publish their work on a prestigious, world-renowned platform, ensuring that groundbreaking discoveries gain the visibility they deserve in this fast-evolving field.

Stay tuned!
